Chance Bay has both a fantastic and concerning reputation. It offers some of the best all weather protection, but is also notoriously sketchy for anchoring if you choose the wrong spot. It is however an absolute PARADISE! Beautiful native forest, and an amazing river to explore that feels like something out of Jurassic Park. On this trip into the Nydia Bay during the summer we get down the kayaks and go exploring to discover the most amazing swimming hole up the river. This video is packed full of local knowledge about anchoring in Chance Bay, and we even got to experience dragging anchor at the very end, so it is for real a total risk if you pick the wrong spot! _______________________________________________________________________ We are a family of 6 embarking on new adventures at sea with 2 teenage girls, 2 young boys, an old dog and now 4 birds on our boat in the magical Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand.
