Ngāti Naho a local Waikato people will open their tourism venture in March 2018, called Haka, Hāngi & History which involves personalised tours of the Rangiriri battle field where Waikato were invaded by the British Troops losing 1.2 million acres of land, this took place in 1863. Tourist will hear and feel the history of the invasion from local tribal members, enjoy a performance of traditional Māori music, song and dance and feast on a tradional Hāngi (food cooked in the ground).
