I'd like to rake it like that to give it that extra height. I don't know what we're going to find up there. He's been dodging it a bit, and he's not real keen on it, but I'm very keen on it. So I'm going to see if I can get my way. Anyway, let's have a look. Hang on, I'll hold the ladder. Ah, well hate to say it but I think Stuart's right. Yes! Hah! It's basically a full pitched roof. So there's no internal props up into the ceiling whatsoever. Oh, that's exciting. Do you want to have a look yourself Jo. It will add to the workload. But I think the benefits from pulling the ceiling out will outweigh the extra work we're going to do. I don't think there's a lot of costs really involved apart from labour. Wow. Oh, that's great. Could even put another bedroom in. It's not that big. (LAUGHS) The best thing is, I've got a happy wife. (LAUGHS) And that should be a big win for me. (MUSIC) Just two months into their yearlong restoration, work is moving at a cracking pace. After his initial reluctance, Digby's agreed to remove the original kitchen ceiling. I think I'll just get out of the way. It's a dirty job but one that will hopefully open up what is now a very modest room. It'd be a pity to wreck it. I must admit I wasn't looking forward to the task. But when it comes down to it, I think there's going to be benefits in the fact that it's not that big a job to pull the tin off the top of the roof and actually start again. Do you want me to get it? Yep. Wow, look at that. It does look fantastic. That's why I've got to get this off. To match that. To match that. It's going all right, we've got half of it off now. Looks fantastic. The brick wall is just going to be amazing. I think we'll have a few arguments about how we're going to cover up the fireplace. But I might get my way there as well. (LAUGHS) We'll see.
