The Jiao Dian is a folk ritual activity in Taiwan. It is generally referred to as "building a Jiao" or "making a Jiao". In order to make or fulfill a wish, people set up a Taoist temple and ask Taoist priests to preside over Taoist rituals. The purpose of making a Jiao is to pray for blessings for the place, to ward off disasters, and to save the ownerless souls within the territory. It is hoped to gain the attention and blessings of the gods and gain "both the benefits of the underworld and the sun". It is usually performed in temples or shrines, but can also be performed outdoors. Held at an altar or religious place. Regular Jiao ceremonies include: the "Wang Jiao" popular in the south, which is used to welcome and send off the prince, mostly once every three years; and the "Peace Jiao" held mainly by localities in various regions of Taiwan, such as Jiao Festival Ceremony, Pray for Peace and Peace Jiao, Zhongyuan Jiao, etc. are held every year to every 30 years, or the "birthday Jiao" is held every year on the birthday of the god. Irregular Jiao ceremonies include: "Qingcheng Jiao" held when a new temple is completed, and "Qing Jiao" or "Fu Jiao" held again after a period of time, which is the so-called "Jiao Wei" or "Yuan Jiao". There are also names based on the length of time the Jiao Ceremony is held. Generally, it is based on the odd number of days (Yang number). One day is called "One Chao". Common ones are "One Chao Jiao", "Three Chao Jiao" and "Five Chao Jiao". etc., "Seven Chao Jiao" or "Nine Chao Jiao" are relatively rare. References: [1] https://online.senao.com.tw/Article/d...
