Voting in the European Parliament elections has started. The UK and the Netherlands are the first out of the stalls with voting today (23 May). Reports are emerging that EU-27 citizens living in the UK have been refused, or experiencing added barriers to voting. When aske about this the European Commission Spokesperson Margaritis Schinas replied that he was unawared of this, but that the electoral process in each state were laid out by national authorities. UK citizens living in the EU, but outside the UK were also experiencing problems with delays in receiving the ballot papers. While there are channels to address problems, they are slow and won't have immediate effect.
