Today on Workshop Quick Takes (wqt): If you own a '97-01 Jeep Cherokee (XJ), you may have found a mysterious sphere lurking behind the passenger-side front bumper. It is a vacuum reservoir to buffer the cruise control actuator and, on the 99-01, the HVAC controls. It tends to get removed for fender cuts and bumper conversions. We didn't need to remove it on our build, but it's in a damage-prone spot for off-road adventure. Unfortunately, even without cruise installed, the HVAC went wonky. Solution: rebuild and relocate. Join us in our 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ as we show you how to create a half-capacity replacement unit from plumbing supplies and then find a good spot to install it near the firewall. Verdict? It looks nearly OE and the HVAC operation is back to normal. *********** All trademarks used in this production are and remain the property of their respective owners.
