Over 181 million have been collected both in cash and pledges during the opening BAAF 2024 fundraising launch for Rukiga district, held, at the St. Mark Kamwezi Catholic Parish grounds in Kamwezi sub county, Rukiga District on Saturday 26th Oct 2024. During the function, Bishop Callist Rubaramira encouraged Christians to use their God-given gifts to support friends, family, and others, thereby glorifying Jesus Christ. Bishop encouraged the congregation to celebrate each other’s successes, fostering a sense of community well-being. He expressed his belief that by nurturing their talents and supporting one another, individuals could live fulfilling lives and contribute positively to society. The Rubanda District Woman MP, Prossy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi, urged Christians to lead efforts in fostering positive change within their households. She highlighted the importance of government programs, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM), in empowering households to break the cycle of poverty. The legislator also advised those who have already received PDM funds to use them responsibly, cautioning against misappropriation, such as using the funds for unproductive purposes, and reminded them to repay after two years. Counsel Katabaazi Patrick Kiconco, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukiga who doubled as the guest of honor, has encouraged Christians to participate actively in government initiatives like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, aimed at reducing poverty.He noted that a significant portion of the population, approximately 20%, still lives below the poverty line, which poses a major challenge. Katabaazi emphasized the importance of investing in children's education to secure a brighter future, while also highlighting ongoing efforts in Rukiga District to improve healthcare, enabling residents to stay healthy and fully engage in agricultural activities.He contributed 70 million shillings towards the opening of the BAAF 2024 fundraising launch for Rukiga District. The BAAF 2024 aims at completing the Catholic building project in Kigongi and it will commence to other districts of the diocese as a way of fulfilling Gods work
