Banchory Towns & Villages The fine Scottish town of Banchory is located approximately 20 miles west of Aberdeen, adjacent to the magnificent River Dee. Surrounded by lovely rural countryside and attractive hills Banchory is a great base for exploring Royal Deeside, the magnificent Cairngorms National Park and the stunning coastline of the northern Scotland. With two famous castles nearby, Crathes and Drum - both run by the National Trust for Scotland, the chance to see salmon leaping by Bridge of Feugh, numerous fine golf courses, at one of which the winner of the British Open in 1999, Paul Lawrie, was a trainee professional, there is plenty to do and see for everyone in Banchory. Stunning scenery and amazing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside can be admired from the top of Scolty Tower, great wildlife can be spotted along the River Dee, the local museum will please fans of renowned local fiddler James Scott Skinner who composed tunes such as ‘The Bonnie Lass o’Bon Accord’ and a fantastic day out awaits families and individuals at Deeside Activity Park.
