Fibrin Glue can be used to close retinal breaks that cannot be adequately treated with laser during surgery due to bleeding, retinal edema or proximity to foveal centre. Silicon oil can be safely injected after fibrin glue instillation. Postoperatively, retinal reattachment can be rapid and does not require as stringent or prolonged duration of prone positioning as it generally does. Glue generally disappears from the eye in few days to weeks and does not increase the rate of silicon oil emulsification or cause other complications. However, when injected near the macular centre caution is advisable as we have seen RPE atrophy where it has entered subretinally.
