来自大马的香料译述家陈爱玲，从小吃的料理不离辛香料，却不曾在意过它，长大到外地生活的她，才开始对辛香料产生好奇，开启了她的辛香料饮食文化的寻根之旅。她到世界各香料原乡采集资料，深入钻研，了解它们的特质与脾性同时，从中解读香料民族的原生文化。有趣的是，摸透辛香料的陈爱玲，常把它们的原有复方拆开，创意重组，勾勒出料理的独家风味。 As a Malaysian, Spices Tan never paid too much attention to the myriad of spices used in the food she grew up having. It was until she experienced living abroad that sparked her curiosity about spices and kickstarted her journey to discover the roots of those aromas. Tan visited the places of origin of different spices around the world, immersing herself in collecting information and researching about their traits and temperament, while also seeking to interpret the native culture of spice cultivators. She married and settled down in Taiwan. She was invited to Kaohsiung Community College by chance to conduct a course named "Southeast Asian Food Culture: Gastronomy". Her longing for the taste of home has triggered her to embark on the journey to trace the roots of the culture of spicy food. From Malaysia to India, China, Tanzania and other places, she explores and understands the characteristics of various spices, which also enable her to retrieve and interpret the native culture of peoples who cherish spices. Furthermore, by using spices as medium, she elevates spices to a higher level of cultural communication.
