Music Video Advent Calendar: Door 2. Karungi means beautiful and its also a women’s name in Luganda, the language of the biggest tribe in Uganda. I think Karungi is a beautiful name for beauty. This piece describes an intense moment of tenderness and love, a heavenly atmosphere. This is my modest attempt to to conjure up a melody expressing pure beauty from just three notes. I wanted it simple and complex, beautiful and melancholic at the same time. Orginally this was the second movement of my African Suite No. 22 INSIDE KAMPALA I wrote in 2017 for Syrinx XXII, so for Katherine Rawdon (flute), António Carrilho (recorder) and Raj Bhimani (piano), who played the fantastic premiere on November 26, 2018, in the National Center for the Performing Arts in Mumbai, India, which you can see here:    • Sören Sieg: Karungi. 2.Satz Inside Ka...   Later, Karungi became the title piece of a collection of Ten Easier Pieces for recorder and flute, that was initiated by Martina Komínková, who performs it here with me!
