Meet Sudanese-Canadian artist Tina Abdelbasit, whose paintings are inspired by family photographs, identity, and the human form. Through Jamii’s Emerging Artist program, supported by the RBC Emerging Artist program, Tina mentored youth in painting a mural at St. Lawrence Market. From guiding young girls in discovering their voices to working closely with professional artist Jieun Kim, this mentorship gave Tina the confidence and clarity to pursue art as her lifelong path. Jamii’s Emerging Artist program uplifts young artists by connecting them with mentorship opportunities that spark growth, collaboration, and community impact. Produced by Jamii Esplanade.
