Making a pen out of coffee beans

The process of casting coffee beans into a blank, turning the blank and assembly on a Majestic pen kit. The challenge i experienced on this was the inconsistency in hardness during the turning process. Resin was hard while the coffee beans was brittle. This required light passes and very sharp carbide tipped cutting tools. Turned at 2000 rpm on the lathe. I noticed that anything higher than than was throwing out peices of the coffee.
