I think if they don't smile or they don't feel like smiling or have the opportunity to smile, that can change a person's personality over time. And it doesn't allow their true feelings and their true personality to shine through. So, I think that having a great smile is a way to make sure that that person is reaching the best of their ability. There have several patients that I've treated in the past and the surgeries that we have done for them have been transforming their lives. Patient 1: When I met this surgeon, his chairside manner was awesome. He just told me what needed to be done. I felt like he treated my health as if I was a family member. Dr. Gliddon: I would say that some of the bigger surgeries that we've done as far as making a patient have not only a great function, a great occlusion, a great bite. But also changing their appearance can drastically affect their lives. It can take somebody that's an introvert and have them shine and light up a room afterward where they otherwise would not have done that. Patient 2: One thing I can say about Dr. Gliddon is the caring way that he talks with me. He put me in such at ease. And for someone that is very scared of this whole process, he was able to calm me down, talk to me, go through the process. He went from the first of it to the end of it and a lot of times you don't get that to where the doctor does explain what you're going to experience, what's going to be taking place, and what's going to happen afterward? So that gave me a lot of comfort in that too. Dr. Gliddon: Most importantly, with our patients when they come to see us for treatment to feel comfortable, this is can be a very intimidating process. And so, when patients come to see us we know that they may have never had to come to see an oral surgeon before. And they may never have to come again. So we want them to realize that we understand where they're coming from and we want them to feel as comfortable as possible.
