Nahoror Geet. নাহৰৰ গীত । An Assamese ballad. অসমীয়া বেলাড । First Part. প্ৰথম অংশ । কণ্ঠশিল্পী - ৰমেন লাহন । This is collected from AIR Dibrugarh through the "Barerohoniya" programme. It is not uploaded as a material of entertainment .It is uploaded as a material of study for the students who are studying on Assamese literature as a whole. (Credited to AIR Dibrugarh ) Note : - Nahoror geet is a kind of Assamese ballad. In Assamese , ballad is called Malita ( মালিতা ) or Geetikobita (গীতিকবিতা) or Juna (জুনা). Ballad is a kind of long lyric which is composed on the basis of a specific event or on the life history of a particular person and sung like a song. Nobody knows who composed it. The composer is unknown. They have been shifting verbally from one generation to another since ancient times. They are a creation of illiterate and rural people. In a ballad, we find a picture of the society of that time. Nahor was a young man who lived in Assam during the rule of Ahom king Chukhampha or Khura Raja. He was an orphan from his childhood. His grandmother brought up him. He had a secret loving relation with a queen of that king. Of course, their loving relation had been going on from their bechalor times. The king forcely snatched away Nahor's lover and made her his queen. But, both of them could not forget each other. So, their loving relation was not paused. Somehow, the king came to know about it. The king sentenced Nahor to death. The Chawdang killed him very cruelly at Borduwar. But, what had happened to the queen is unknown. Nahoror Geet was composed on that heart-rending unfortunate event of Nahor. Thank you.
