This is a detailed tutorial for knitting a ribbed hat. I tried to develop a pattern that is both easy to knit and has a modern look. This hat (or beanie as some call it) is knit in the round on circular needles using the magic loop technique, but you can knit it with dpns as well. In fact, I usually switch to dpns for the last few decrease rounds. This pattern is more of a recipe, meaning it shows you exactly what you need to do to make your hat fit - no matter your yarn or needle size. Since you would have to knit a swatch anyway, I personally don't feel its more complicated anyway. I will show you the tubular cast-on but you can use a longtail cast-on or any other method you prefer- as long as it's stretchy. There's a section where I show you how to determine when you can start decreasing the hat, and of course, I'll also show you how to finish things, weave in the ends and block it into perfect shape. Enjoy.
