Lady in Wading is a rare Atari 2600 action game released in 1982 by PlayAround. The game is known as a gender-reversed variation of Knight on the Town, featuring similar gameplay mechanics but placing players in control of a female knight on a quest to reach and rescue her prince. PlayAround was an American developer recognized for producing unusual and adult-oriented Atari 2600 titles during the early 1980s. In this gameplay video, players guide the lady knight across a dangerous moat while attempting to build a bridge piece by piece. The main objective is to carefully place bridge segments across the water while avoiding several hazards that attempt to interrupt the journey. Timing and quick reactions are essential, as enemies move quickly and the environment becomes more dangerous as the player progresses. Along the path, players must avoid threats such as a lurking crocodile in the water, a roaming beast guarding the area, and in more advanced difficulty modes, a flying dragon that attacks from above by launching fireballs. These obstacles make the task of constructing the bridge increasingly difficult, forcing players to carefully plan movements while completing the structure. Once the bridge is completed, the lady knight can safely cross the moat and continue toward the tower where her prince awaits. The goal is to reach the end of the level as quickly as possible while surviving the various hazards encountered along the way. Lady in Wading closely mirrors the mechanics of Knight on the Town but stands out for its role reversal concept, which was unusual for games of that era. The game also reflects PlayAround’s strategy of producing creative and sometimes controversial titles for the Atari 2600. Another interesting aspect of many PlayAround releases was the double-ended cartridge format, where two different games could be included on a single cartridge, each playable by inserting the cartridge in opposite directions. This concept added novelty and value for players during the early days of home video gaming. Today, Lady in Wading remains a curiosity among retro gaming enthusiasts and collectors. Because PlayAround games had relatively small production runs, original cartridges are considered rare pieces of Atari 2600 history. #vaultofpixels #atari #atari2600 #ladyinwading Playlist: • Atari -- 2600
