Here's a full breakdown of D-Limonene (and what the warning labels don't tell you): For years, D-limonene has been the go-to "green" solvent in everything from household cleaners to industrial degreasers, home and personal care, etc. It comes from citrus peels. Sounds harmless enough, right? But the hazard labels tell a different story… Despite its natural origins, D-limonene comes with some serious warnings: • "May cause allergic skin reaction" (a proven sensitizer) • "Flammable liquid and vapor" (flash point of just 47°C) • "Toxic if swallowed and enters airways" And that's not all… D-limonene is also labeled "Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects." When it washes down your dishwasher drain, it doesn’t just disappear. It can accumulate in waterways, harming aquatic life, and eventually impact our bodies through food and the water we drink. To work properly D-limonene usually needs to be mixed with other chemicals e.g. sodium hydroxide. These are typically corrosive and harmful to skin and eyes. So this “natural” citrus cleaner?
