Rocío Ramos, youth representative speaking on behalf of the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD), addressed the Commission to underscore the need for coordinated, equitable and inclusive policies that place families and care systems at the center of social development. She highlighted how demographic change, care deficits, gender inequality and growing pressure on parents demand integrated policy responses. Drawing on IFFD’s solution sessions at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha and the recent UNICEF–WHO Global Caregiver Forum in Madrid, she emphasized that nurturing care and evidence-based parenting support are among the most effective investments for child development. Her intervention stressed that parents are primary caregivers, care infrastructure and family-friendly workplaces are essential, and early childhood is a critical window for joint action by governments, employers and civil society. She concluded by calling for stronger integration of family-friendly and care-oriented policies, recognition of unpaid care work, and greater collaboration to advance social justice beyond economic growth alone.
