Now available in 1080p HD! Certainly a scarce sight on the railways during daylight hours, the Class 92's were Railfreight Distribution's answer to a specialist design of locomotive to work between France and England using the Channel Tunnel. The Class 92's were built by Brush between 1993 and 1996, with 46 members of the class being delivered to three companies, Railfreight Distribution, SNCF and EPS (European Passenger Services). The locomotives can operate on both 1500v DC third rail as well as on 25KV AC overhead wires and have worked a variety of operations including intermodal freights, clay services, tankers, cartics, even railtours. The principal operations for these locomotives began by both working cross-channel freights but also replacing many ageing Railfreight Distribution Class 47's on intermodal workings. Since the advent of the Class 66, many of the fleet have dodged in and out of store, with several members being exported to Bulgaria due to lack of demand. Although a majority of the fleet continues to be in service, they nowadays rarely make appearances in daylight hours. EPS planned to use these locomotives in conjunction with their fleet of converted Class 37/6's on the ill-fated Nightstar services between England and various European capital cities. After this plan fell through these locomotives went into storage for nearly 10 years before being bought by Europorte2, who now intend to return the fleet to work on their Channel Tunnel operations. Today a majority of the fleet continues to wear the original 2-tone grey of Railfreight Distribution that they were delivered in, although DB Schenker owned locomotives sport EWS stickers on their bodysides. Some of DBS's locomotives have been repainted into their corporate red. Europorte is similar although 1 of their locomotives (92032) was painted into GBRf Blue and Orange whilst other members continue to sport grey with Europorte logos. EWS only ever painted 2 locomotives in their corporate Maroon and Gold (92001 and 92031), the second locomotive now wearing DB red. Aside from these mainstream liveries, 92017 was painted into the striking Stobart Rail blue and white livery to promote DB Schenker's collaboration with Stobart hauliers.
