Bruce James is Co-founder and President of the MVP Track and Field Club, which started in 1999 with a vision to train athletes to win, at the highest levels, using local coaches, facilities and management. Today the MVP Track and Field Club is one of the most successful track clubs in the world. In this TEDxJamaica talk Bruce James describes the evolution of one of the world's most successful track and field clubs, the MVP Track Club, from the simple idea and goal of developing Jamaican athletic talent in Jamaica using Jamaican coaches and facilities. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxJamaica, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxJamaica event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized
