Germany is asking me to adopt my biological daughter so I thought I'd spread the word about the nonsense going on in this country. germany recognizes the birth mother as the only, single mother of a child if it isn't born in a heterosexual relationship - and that's bullshit. You have to go through a process called stepchild adoption (Stiefkindadoption), which is a legally tedious, lengthy and emotionally draining and - let's face it, degrading process. Thankfully we'd been planning on leaving Germany anyway (for the third time now), and we'll move to a country where we'll both have full parental rights without adoption. but please spread the word so that people know how conservative Germany really is! even if she wasn't my genetic child this whole process is outdated and in most western european countries and North America we both would have been on the birth certificate automatically.   / lilianbrilliant_
