I forgot to mention, and then had a bug (a lazyiness bug) when editing... I did record a voice over, but it went funny (disappeared, even though the audio track was in the timeline)... en fin, I couldn't be bothered to re-record it, I thought, I'll just write it. And now I'm paying the price ... the tape counter belt is a lot trickier to fit that the play belt. You have to actually remove the string brake on the right spool so the belt can sit under it. Removing the string is not difficult: use a flat screwdriver to open the 'jaw' of the metal fixing point that securely holds the string end. You don't need to worry about the other end that connects to the plastic pivot arm. Unwind the string from the spool, pass the belt through,. re wrap the string around the spool, (wound anti-clockwise) as it loops back to the anchor point, and passes under the string when it joins the spool. Fit the string collar back into the metal anchor point and re-pinch the jaw to securely fix it in place. The other slightly fiddly/tricky part is sliding the belt under the plastic arm (the one with the circlip at the midpoint pivot). There is no need to remove the arm, the belt will thread through ok, just above the capstan roller. Pass it behind and under the plastic pivot arm, feed it through, and you will now have the belt either side of the brass pivot point chasis fixing point (held in place by the circlip, as shown in video) The Grundig Como 6, with the FM radio, it also has a source input: phone, pc, cd player etc. I make full use of it. The two extra philips speakers are connected, and you can have, depending on sense you plug them in, only the external speakers sounding, or all four - the two elliptical speakers built into the cabinet, as well as the two external. With this current setup I prefer to have all 4 speakers firing (rather than the two. The sound is really great, and the built in antenna works very well in this poor reception area. I knocked it off stereo though, too much noise (note the stereo lamp has blown/needs replacing). I did a bit of work on the Como, all the front face buttons were seized up, full of shit and dust, and the tuner mechanism was jammed. It was also missing a tuning wheel. The one on there is smaller than the original, but does the job. I had to strip down the tuner, melt out the old dried grease from inside the tuner mechanism, clean it with petrol, re-grease. And it now tunes and turns as it should, easily and accurately. I really love it. Great sound and presence. I had another one, sold it, which I regretted really. It was nicer looking that this one, high gloss varnish, perfect in every way. Paid 20 at a boot sale, sold it for 150. This one, I paid 10 I think, repairs only cost my time. No very nice rugs were harmed during the making of this video.
