One degree of future-proofing that I don't think was mentioned in the description is that the connection on the reader itself is USB-C. The cable is USB-A to USB-C. If your PC doesn't have a USB-A connector, but does have a USB-C, you can get a USB-C to USB-C cable and still use the reader. I haven't been able to test its speed because both the cards and the computer I connect to are the limiting factors.
