Located in Xi County, Shanxi Province, Xiaoxitian Temple, originally named Thousand Buddha Nunnery, is renowned for its collection of 1,978 Ming Dynasty statues, earning it the title of "China's Museum of Suspended Sculpture Art." This exhibition is being held at the National Museum of Classic Books. It brings together 50 sets of 84 precious artifacts from Xiaoxitian Temple, including important temple-preserved stone inscriptions, exquisite gold and bronze statues from the Ming and Qing dynasties, rare editions of the Yongle Northern Buddhist Canon, and fragments of suspended sculptures. Most of these artifacts are being publicly displayed for the first time. The exhibition also features a 1:1 restoration of the main shrine scene from the Mahavira Hall and a digital model of the entire suspended sculpture collection, allowing visitors to experience it up close through VR.
