Robert Paul Block Fantasy for Double Bass Solo (1973)

For Eldon Obrecht (1920-2011) Robert Paul Block was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1942, and grew up in Chicago. He studied at Roosvelt University (Chicago Musical College) majoring in composition and received his Bachelor end Master's Degrees there. His formal composition teachers were Karel Jirak, Robert Muczinski and Robert Lombardo. After completing his studies at Roosvelt, he went to the university of Iowa studiyng under Richeard Hervig and learning more in addition from Eldon Obrecht. Since he has been editing for Musica Rara, composing, teaching, recorder and baroque flute, and manufacturing plastic renaissance transverse flute. Most of Block's compositions have been discarded. There is four fantaisies for violin, viola, cello and double bass alone (All published by Musica Rara). He died in 2001.
