Tunisia 2024

I was lucky enough to be able to backpack around Tunisia in March this year. I went from Tunis to Mahdia, to Soussa, to Sfax, Douz, Tozeur and back to Tunis. I was hosted by many Tunisians who opened their homes to me and broke bread as we shared the iftar most nights as this was during Ramadan. Some highlights were taking part in the tradition of going to a hammam for which you pack a suitcase and many locals use it as they don't have the luxury of having a shower or bath at home. Another highlight was investigating the streets in Sfax to try to find the house where my grandma used to live as a child, which I think we located. I loved learning about the culture and politics of the country through the people I met - I hope to be back one day :)
