Ladakh Crisis: Apex Body Boycotts Talks, Demands Wangchuk's Release After 4 Deaths | India Today

Following protests in Ladakh where four locals lost their lives, the Leh Apex Body has announced a boycott of scheduled talks with the centre. The body is demanding an impartial judicial probe into a firing incident by security forces in September and an apology from the centre for labelling Ladakhis as anti-nationals. A key demand is the unconditional release of Sonam Wangchuk. His wife has called the charges against him “absolutely baseless charges,” affirming his commitment to Gandhian principles. The next round of talks between the centre, the Leh Apex Body, and the Kargil Democratic Alliance was scheduled for October.
