The "Strategic Directions for the Heating & Cooling Transition” workshop happened on the 26/2/2026. It was organised by 5 EU LIFE projects members of the DH Synergy Hub - SUPPPORT DHC, ENABLE DHC, HeatMineDH, Green Heat Life, and IncentEU. It debated the current and upcoming legislative framework for district heating and cooling, alongside trends in investment in the DHC sector. The discussion and panels addressed existing gaps and opportunities, and explored how the European policy framework can help unlock investments in sustainable district heating and cooling while accelerating policy transposition across Member States. The first panel discussed the policy aspects of the heating and cooling decarbonization efforts. It was moderated by Pauline Lucas (Euroheat & Power) and it had Joana Fernandes (ADENE), Kaneli Seppanen (Finnish Energy), Nicolas Raimondi (Energy Cities), Johannes Dornberger (AGFW), and Vytautas Dziuve (LSTA) as speakers. The second panel was dedicated to financing and how more private investments are key to a decarbonised DHC future. It was moderated by Gabriele Pesce (Euroheat & Power) and it featured Giulia Conforto (E-think), Thomas Miller (Hamburg Commercial Bank), Ugo Miretti (CINEA), Nicholas Dodd (SEFA) as speakers.
