Hands-on size and weight impressions of the new Nikon 500mm f/5.6E PF lens. Nikon Canada was kind enough to lend me their sought-after prime telephoto lens. I'll be testing it out over the next few weeks, but in the meantime I wanted to share my initial impressions and answer some often-asked questions about its size and weight. [NOTE: I mistakenly had the wrong weight for the 500mm f/5.6 PF in the video! The lens weighs 1460g or 3.2lbs. So not quite a full two pounds lighter than the 200-500mm f/5.6 which comes in at 2300g or just over 5lbs.] So how big is it? In the video, I provide direct comparison photos with the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8E lenses. The 500mm f/5.6 PF is light and *tiny*! I can't wait to get out and shoot with it.
