The Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) is a database of over 1.25 million crystal structures. The CSD contains data relating to the structures of all published low molecular weight organic and metal-organic molecules. Your CSD license gives you access to the CSD Portfolio, i.e. the database and associated software. In this video we will answer some questions you may have to help your institution make the most of your CSD license! In particular, we will explain what the CSD is, who can use it, what the advantages are and why, how access is configured, how students, researchers and educators are trained in its use and we will provide useful contacts. In this video: 00:56 What is the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), what data does it contain and why is it important. 01:45 CSD Software and in which sectors and departments it can be used. 03:05 Focus on WebCSD to access data in the online CSD with both basic and advanced data search capabilities and its importance in both teaching and research. 03:52 Focus on the CSD Software and the features included, from offline data search options to advanced crystal structure analysis features. 05:12 Examples of areas of use of the CSD Portfolio in teaching. 05:42 Examples of areas of use of the CSD Portfolio in crystallography and in the study of solid forms. 06:15 Examples of areas of use of the CSD Portfolio in drug design and research. 07:10 How to access WebCSD online: via IP address and through account activation. 08:13 Access to the software via installation. 09:36 Keep software updated and renew. 10:30 Brief introduction of the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC), which is the non-profit organization that deals with the CSD. 12:13 Resources and events for training in the use of the database and CSD Software and resources for teaching and dissemination through the use of the CSD. 13:38 Useful resources and contacts for technical, scientific and administrative support. 14:26 Our regional networks. 15:14 Next steps.
