#DEVELOPING: This morning our newsroom was tipped off about a series of federal search warrant sweeps happening across Central Indiana. My photographer and I were at the scene of two of those sweeps, as they were going down. These were spear-headed by the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force. The multi-agency partnership targets violent offenders and illegal firearms in Central Indiana. It’s still unclear what they gathered from the home. Here’s the LIVE report we were able to get on air before my photographer and I were verbally assaulted, threatened and approached by women who appeared to be relatives of someone involved. UPDATE from the task force: “This morning, the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force—comprised of Special Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and other federal partner agencies—served multiple federal search warrants in the Indianapolis area. The warrants were executed without incident. No injuries were reported among law enforcement personnel or occupants during the service of these warrants. Evidence is currently being collected and processed from the identified locations. This remains an active violent crime investigation being conducted by the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force. To preserve the integrity of the investigation, no additional details are available at this time. Further information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate for public dissemination.”
