The Gavita 1700e has emerged as the front runner in bar fixtures for popularity, but it has some fundamental flaws. Extremely high-quality aspects balance out the bad: heatsinks, build quality, brand reputation, and one of if not the first to take advantage of high voltage drivers that add just a little efficacy which will allow them to lead that arms race on paper for the foreseeable future. However the E-series adapter, RJ connections, and multiple power supplies are weak points in my opinion. Has anyone experienced any failures on the power supplies? I was not able to test the dimming protocol without the controller, and I didn't want to learn how to splice RJ cable and risk damaging such a spendy piece of gear. Do they only dim to 50 percent?
