The AI Summit protest case has now been transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, with the Inter-State Crime Branch taking over further investigation. Indian Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib has been arrested under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with the shirtless protest staged at Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Produced before the Patiala House Court, police have sought seven days of custody, citing serious charges including promoting enmity between groups, criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, assault on public servants, and obstruction of official duty. Police allege Chib played a key role in planning the protest and did not cooperate during interrogation. The Youth Congress maintains that the protest was peaceful and aimed at opposing the India-US interim trade deal, denying that it was directed against the AI Summit itself.
