Question: Is it possible to have multiple different time signature phrases playing at the same time? Answer: Yes, in a limited way, using the RPS feature. (details in the description below) I made this vid after being prompted by a good comment/question from @thepatrickrichardson on another of my videos - Roland MC-808 RPS first explore - altering patch settings • Roland MC-808 RPS first explore - altering... Here is how I tried it - Select a new empty pattern. Select an empty part to record. Press REC, select [TR-REC], press ENTER to confirm. Mode changes to TR-REC STANDBY, change the Rec Beat: parameter to the time signature required eg 7/8 Press PLAY and enter the notes to play Press stop **remember to SAVE the pattern** if you want to use it! The new PHRASE is now ready to be registered in one of the RPS SETs Press and hold RPS button and select the [RPS SET] you want to use With the RPS button pressed down, select the pad to assign the PHRASE to Go have fun ! I tried this by making three Patterns, each having only one PART, with the required different time signature. Then assigned each of these PART phrases to a different RPS pad in the same RPS SET ie 3/4 phrase from new Pattern 1 assigned to PAD 2, 4/4 phrase from new Pattern 2 assigned to PAD 3, 5/4 phrase from new Pattern 3 assigned to PAD 4. (the PAD numbers are arbitrary ie choose any PAD, you don't have to choose the same numbers) Then choose a 4/4 (or other time signature) Pattern, and pressed play. Next press the RPS button, toggle HOLD if you need it, and select / play the alternate time signature phrases as desired. Marvel at the musical mayhem of your creation ! Do you have a different way of doing this? Please let me know !
