www.loudlabs.com RIVERSIDE - Early this morning Vector Control began spraying Aqua-Roslin pesticide in a Riverside neighborhood. According to the Vector Control website, due to the extremely high activity of the West Nile Virus in Riverside County, the Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District has scheduled Ultra Low Volume (ULV) ground applications using truck mounted sprayers to reduce the risk of disease transmission to humans and animals by adult mosquitoes. The spraying was scheduled to take place between 3:00am and 6:00am in the neighborhood North of Central Ave., East of Victoria Ave. and West of Chicago Ave. The Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District has detected invasive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in Western Riverside County. This species was recently found on September 30, 2015 in the City of Riverside. Aedes aegypti is not native to California. It is a small black and white day-biting mosquito that prefers to feed on humans. This mosquito is capable of transmitting several viruses, including yellow fever, dengue and chikungunya. While these viruses are not currently transmitted in California, there is potential for them to be introduced by infected international travelers.
