Rachel Lloyd, herself trafficked when she was a teenager, fights against human trafficking in the United States. Rachel and her organization GEMS (Girls Educational and Mentoring Services) support hundreds of girls and young women every year by providing safe housing, help in getting an educa­tion and a job, counseling, legal support and love. Survivors of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) are trained as leaders to help others. Some 1,500 young women are sup­ported with preventive initia­tives, and over 1,300 adults including social workers and police officers are trained about the commercial sexual exploitation of children and girls’ rights. The World’s Children’s Prize (WCP) Program is the world’s largest annual program educating and empowering children to become humane changemakers who stand up for the equal value of all people, the rights of the child, human rights, democracy, and sustainable development. Patrons of the World’s Children’s Prize include H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden, Malala Yousafzai, the late Nelson Mandela, Graça Machel, Xanana Gusmão, Desmond Tutu and Sweden’s Prime Minister. Since the year 2000, close to 50 million children have participated in the annual WCP Program.
