Join The CatholicTV Network for this joyful Daily Mass celebration as we continue to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. In today's heartening homily, Bishop Robert P. Reed is joined by students and teachers from the Jackson Walnut Park School in Newton, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The reflection focuses on the "consolation of the truth" found in Christ, our Good Shepherd, who leads us toward everlasting life. As we honor the gift of Catholic education, we are reminded to let our actions abound in good works and to trust in the quiet, steady growth of God's grace within our hearts. The Scriptures contrast the complexities of human history with the simple beauty of the Kingdom: -The First Reading (2 Samuel 11:1-10, 13-17): A sobering account of King David’s fall from grace. While his army is at war, David remains in Jerusalem and falls into sin with Bathsheba, eventually leading to the betrayal of Uriah the Hittite. It serves as a powerful reminder of our constant need for God's mercy and the "grace by which you bring us to new life". -The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 51): A humble cry for forgiveness: "Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned". -The Holy Gospel (Mark 4:26-34): Jesus teaches using parables of growth. He compares the Kingdom of God to a seed that sprouts and grows "he knows not how" and to a mustard seed—the smallest of all seeds that grows to provide shelter for all the birds of the sky. Let us pray for our students and teachers today, that they may always glory in God's gift and be strengthened by this "heavenly care".
