Super clean and almost too good to be true, Slash actually thought the guitar might not be a real Gibson when he first saw it. But it’s Slash, so as soon as he plugged it in, he knew that it was the real deal. In this story of an extremely rare Gibson guitar, learn how Slash, with help from Gibson President & CEO Cesar Gueikian, connected with a collector who wasn’t planning to sell the guitar but did after they discussed how this guitar was going to replace Slash’s “Joe Perry Burst” Les Paul. This 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Darkburst is actually featured in the “Beauty of the Burst” book, and as Mark Agnesi and Slash both agree, is totally killer, so much so that Mark actually played it when it was on loan to Cesar at Gibson. Though it hasn’t seen studio action yet, Slash says it’ll get some work soon.
