Steve Camden aka Polarbear, is a performance poet with a penchant for the weird and the wonderful. He has been performing in London for over a decade, with the likes of OneTaste Collective, during their halcyon days at the Bedford in Balham, where the likes of Jamie Woon and Fiona Bevan got their start in the music industry, and he has been a stalwart of the spoken word scene, nationally, ever since. Listening to Polarbear is like listening to your best friend; a marvelous wordsmith with an unabashed approach to tell-all, internal monologues. He eloquently inspires young people to craft stories and inspires all of his audiences with his thought-provoking stream of consciousness. In a talk that spans the generations, Polarbear discusses everything from receiving inspiration from his Jamaican nan as a boy, honing his craft (and his romantic skills) as a young man, to inspiring his own son to write rhymes as a dad. In so doing, he explores the power of storytelling itself, its ability to create bonds and make sense of the world. He also treats us to two original, and rather excellent, pieces.
