INDIAN CLUBS - Fighting CHEMO Demons Prostate Cancer is the male equivalent to women's breast cancer. Today is Day 11 after my first chemo, my hospital stay was scary with some patients lying virtually lifeless for the two days I was there. Depressing. I have to admit feeling pretty lousy at the moment, I’m constantly waking during the night, aches and pains all over the body, headaches, disgusting metallic taste in my mouth, tingling hands and feet, limbs feeling heavy, lethargy, everything seems to go in slow motion. All my doctors have said " Keep Training" and I am very happy to report that I am training every day. Vigorous movement is amazing therapy by helping to provide physical relief and clearing the mind. I rise in the mornings and the CHEMO DEMON says:- "Go Back To Bed, Why Get Up, Be Lazy" On some days I struggle NOT to go back to bed, as all you feel like doing is curling up into a ball, and feeling sorry for yourself. YUK. I worked out that if I do prolonged stretches I start to feel more alive by getting the body moving. Sheno Split Pushups Persian Meel Stretches Both these stretches then lead me to swing clubs. Indian Clubs allow for mobility, free improvisation, and recreation. Persian Meels rhythmically calm my mind and open my shoulders. Gada (mace) weaves protective double circles around me. All three disciplines give me regulated deep breathing which has an amazing impact on my well being. I feel truly blessed that I have the accumulated knowledge to be able to carry on training with my beloved clubs and I’m proud to say that I haven’t missed a day yet. One of the most noticeable swinging benefits is deep breathing and exhaling, it makes me feel alive as opposed to the CHEMO ZOMBIE that got up that same morning. If you know anyone with Prostate Cancer, please encourage them to move, and show them this video. Yours in club and gada swinging.
