WE'RE MARRIED!!!! I still don't have our full wedding video back [ah the suspense] but for today I wanted to share with you guys all of the things they don't tell you about getting married! Our wedding really was the most special day and we are so grateful to everyone who celebrated with us. I wanted to share all of the things that you never see on instagram / all of what people don't tell you about getting married so you can hear what a REAL wedding day can look like. It's still a day, which means- things can still [and usually will] go wrong. I hope this video helps you if you are also planning a wedding- things will happen that aren't perfect, but it's still YOUR wedding. Don't stress out trying to make everything pinterest perfect because behind the pictures are stories like these :) WHAT NO ON TELLS YOU ABOUT GETTING MARRIED: 1. THINGS WILL GO WRONG I've never experienced this problem at DryBar before, but I got a blowout the day of our rehearsal dinner and there was pink coloring in my hair after I left. I had pink hair at my rehearsal dinner and my phone broke twice in two days. 2. THE WEATHER MIGHT NOT BE GREAT Everyone will tell you that the weather will be great on your actual wedding day, but that might not be true. All of the weekends leading up to our wedding were gorgeous, and then our wedding came and we had a crazy down pour during the 1 hour that we had planned our ceremony to be outside. We were hoping all day that the rain would hold off and had to pull all of the ceremony inside at the last minute. 3. THINGS WON'T GO HOW YOU PLAN I had the day scheduled out by every 10 minutes. I couldn't schedule human error. The driver of party bus we hired [never again] showed up at the wrong location, ended up getting to the right spot 45 minutes later, kicked people off of our bus, wouldn't let us play our own music, etc. 4. YOU WON'T GET TO DO EVERYTHING We spent 6 weeks going to dance lessons for our first dance. When my husband saw what my dress actually looked like / how much fabric was on it, he just looked at it and was like 'yeah, that's not happening'. 5. A VENDOR WILL LIE TO YOU 6. THINGS MIGHT NOT LOOK HOW YOU PICTURED The florist we hired was testing me weeks before the wedding. And it's not like I hired some small suburb florist- I hired an event company in downtown chicago! I showed exact pictures of what I wanted, and then weeks before she was like 'what, I would NEVER do something like that' and I was like--then why did you tell me you could? Why have we been planning it this way for months? 7. PEOPLE WILL SURPRISE YOU The people that I thought would give us the most trouble during the wedding planning process were actually some of the most helpful people. The people that I thought I wouldn't have to worry about... I was wrong. 8. YOU MIGHT EVEN HATE SOMETHING The string quartet played our hymn painfully slow-one of my bridesmaids also fainted during the hymn and I'm pretty sure she did that to distract from how awful it was. 9. YOUR VOWS GET TESTED QUICKLY I've really been testing the 'in sickness and in health' thing this last month with all of my doctor visits.
