2 Capo Hacks That Will Instantly Improve Your Recordings

Here are two recording hacks I use all the time in the studio—both involving a capo in creative ways! A few years back, I worked a session where the producer always had me double my acoustic guitar parts using a capo. At first, it felt a little weird… but the results were HUGE. Hack #1 is a faux twelve-string trick—just place the capo up the neck and double your part an octave above. Hack #2 is a bit more unconventional: double your part in a different position on the neck, using the capo in a more sympathetic way sonically. With a little experimentation, you’ll find the sweet spot and unlock a much richer, wider acoustic sound.
