Can This Week Really Get Any Worse? Yes, yes it can. After solving the issue of our off grid water heater draining batteries in cold weather every morning, the household is hit by the cold virus. With all three of us feeling dreadful, what more could happen? What about a storm hitting Ireland, cutting off all power to the house, running out of petrol in the generator and although having the ability to be fully off grid, not enough sunshine for the solar panels means the batteries didn't last long. We attempted to get petrol but fallen trees have blocked the rural Irish roads and even large towns are without power. Welcome back to "Cash Only" in the shops. After 12 months of renovation and restoration we are amazed at how different the still unfinished living room looks after we put up our Christmas decorations. Everywhere is warm and this once derelict farmhouse in Ireland feels like home.
