Back in September, senior tech writer Simon Smythe pulled on a woollen jersey, shorts with a real chamois and took a vintage Geoffrey Butler steel road bike for a spin around the Sussex countryside in the south of England. He was taking part in a taster event for the Eroica Britannia ride at the Goodwood Revival Festival - the full ride will be back in 2022. The rules meant he had to ride a pre-1987 bike, with downtube shifters, and pedals with toe clips. Find out how he got on!
