This landmark moment will call upon every North American duck hunter to join us as we rise to the occasion and produce 1 million more ducks to join the fall flight every year. WHY ONE MILLION DUCKS MATTERS: 1. Prairies: Our work focuses on the Prairie Pothole Region, where up to 70% of North American ducks are hatched. 2. Ponds: Breeding ground wetlands dictate production potential, setting the table for breeding duck pairs. We must continue aggressively deploying the most effective habitat protection strategies across the US and Canadian prairie wetland areas. 3. Predators. Overly abundant duck-nest predators such as raccoons, skunks, and others severely limit nest success, duckling survival, and nesting hen survival. 21st CENTURY SOLUTIONS To sustain abundant North American waterfowl populations, the path forward must consider a new, complementary strategy that protects breeding habitat and maximizes duck production. 1. Deploy and maintain 110,000 Hen Houses. 2. Predator Management. By restoring a predator/prey balance, ducks have a better chance to hatch a nest. Over three decades of exhaustive research to document and find solutions shows that Predator Management produces ducks. 3. Strategic scalability. Delta Waterfowl has proved its efficacy, perfected its efficiency, and is now ready to launch a duck production effort to transform waterfowl management. The Million Duck Campaign promises to boost all four of Delta's key pillars of mission delivery: Duck Production, Habitat Conservation, Research, and HunteR3 education.
