Spiritual Drug Addicts

As we enter into the month of Elul, we start looking at the condition of the body of Messiah and the condition of our hearts. Are we that knowledge driven that we have turned the Word of יהוה into the spiritual equivalent of cocaine? Are we roaming the fields of YouTube and Facebook for the next hit of knowledge, all the while not actually allowing the Word and Ruach to circumcise our hearts? Do we then have the hubris to say that we're spiritually mature, all the while avoiding any form of accountability and discipleship, so that the condition of our hearts is not exposed? What are we truly putting our faith and hope in, יהוה or ourselves? In the second half, we start looking at the responsibility of the leaders within the body, and the higher judgement they will receive for their actions in leading the body of Messiah. Have leaders become the spiritual equivalent of crack-cocaine dealers? Are leaders teaching sensationalism and knowledge to feed people's addiction and yearning for their next spiritual fix? Is this being done out of fear of losing one's support base, and does that make leaders and teachers guilty of "whoring" themselves out? What will be the price paid for all these shenanigans, and what are the ramifications of all this? It's time we start calling things out for what they truly are.
