Gospel of the day Monday 14 October 2024 Audio Gospel of the day in Italian with commentary by    / @frastefano   Liturgy of the Word of the day, from the Gospel according to Luke Glory to you, O Lord Lk 11,29-32 At that time, while the crowds were gathering, Jesus began to say: "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. In the day of judgment, the queen of the South will rise up against the men of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here. On the day of judgment, the people of Nineveh will rise up against this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And behold, someone greater than Jonah is here." The Word of the Lord Praise to you, O Christ What are you waiting for before you repent? Some sign from heaven? We don't need to look for extraordinary signs or travel far. God's love is here, present, accessible to all of us through Jesus. Let's try to look inside ourselves. We often look for external signs, tangible proof, before deciding to change. But true change begins in the heart, in opening ourselves to the love of Jesus. It's not about witnessing spectacular miracles, but about recognizing the daily miracle of God's love at work in our lives. Opening our hearts to the love of Jesus means being willing to question our beliefs, to step out of our comfort zone, to see the world and others with new eyes. It means being ready to forgive, to show compassion, to live generously, even when it seems difficult. The conversion to which Jesus calls us is not a burden, but a liberation. It is an invitation to live more fully, more authentically, in harmony with the love that God has for us and for everyone. So, instead of looking for extraordinary signs, we can start today to open our hearts. We can begin by recognizing Jesus' love in small things: a gesture of kindness, a moment of peace, an act of forgiveness. We can decide to respond to this love with our daily actions, gradually transforming our way of living and relating to others. Let us remember that the greatest "sign" of God's love is already among us. It is up to us to open our hearts to welcome it and let it transform our lives from within.
