If your screen is all purple and skewed like a bad horror movie it's probably not the CCD, but the CCD's connector on the camera's mainboard. Try this: hold your camera firmly on both sides, now twist the camera back and forth. You might have to do it pretty hard. Does the picture come back on the screen for a second? I figured this out because replacing the CCD didn't fix the problem. It's actually the connector and you need to put a piece of foam on top of the connector lock to help press it down.
