If there is one postflop mistake that you need to correct as a new poker player, it is definitely this one! Luckily, it's one of the easiest leaks to fix and this video will show you how. There are very few scenarios where you should bet into the preflop aggressor as the out of position preflop caller. This is known as 'leading' or 'taking the betting lead' but to most it is known as donk betting! In this video, pokercoaching founder & coach Jonathan Little breaks down the importance of position in poker, as well as how to play in flow, how to control the size of the pot and what situations you might want to take the betting lead in (i.e. when to donk bet). He takes you through several scenarios where you might want to consider leading (donk betting), while giving you insights on what range & hand qualities you need to have when considering a lead (donk bet). Once you understand why & when this strategy works, you can expand on your knowledge and postflop poker will become much easier as a result. Be sure to take notes throughout the video and leave any questions you might have in the comments, where Jonathan Little (or members of the pokercoaching community) can reply and help further your poker journey! So why is this the biggest postflop mistake for new players? Reason Number 1: If you only called on the previous street, your opponent has the highest frequency of the absolute best hands (pocket aces, pocket kings etc.) Reason Number 2: You dont want to give the in position player any additional about your hand strength. If you always check you junk & always bet your best hands, you opponent's will quickly realize and adapt their strategy appropriately. Reason Number 3: You must play more cautiously out of position because it is difficult to control the size of the pot. The best way to learn how to play on all different board textures is with PEAKGTO, the all-in-one study tool that I use in my videos.
